| Description: | Perform principal role as Lead Teacher in the instruction of two classes of preschool age children. Perform Teacher role with two other classes of preschool age children. Assist in the direction and coordination of the Linfield Pre-Kindergarten program. As Lead Teacher provide instruction and coordination for work study and practicum students in two classes. This position is .83 FTE, which includes summers off. |
| Duties: | Teaching
Plan and execute daily lesson plans and activities for preschool students.
Help set up and prepare for the school year.
Lesson plan weekly with the teaching team.
Prepare materials for weekly lessons.
Work with college aides, work study staff, and student teachers.
Maintain organization and inventory of classroom materials and equipment.
Administrative
Responsible for supervising and writing evaluations for the college work study students and teacher aides.
Participate in Pre-Kindergarten and Education Department staff meetings.
Assist with ongoing program and policy development.
Order educational and other supplies needed to operate the Pre-Kindergarten.
Participate in OAYC and other professional groups.
Parent Relations
Communicate with parents via daily conversations and sign-in notes, as well as the parent wall, newsletters, activities, and events.
Keep frequent records and assessments of Pre-Kindergarten children to record their developmental growth and share information with parents.
Provide parent tours to familiarize parents with the Pre-Kindergarten Program.
Conduct parent-teacher conferences for two groups of children. |
| Qualifications: | Bachelors degree in family studies or education with an early childhood education emphasis, and two years experience in an early childhood program, or an equivalent combination of experience and education demonstrating knowledge, skills and abilities to perform the essential duties of the job, including:
Pre-Kindergarten concepts and teaching methods
Student assessment methods
Curriculum development
Classroom management principles and practices
NAEYC Developmentally Appropriate Practices (DAP)
Communication, interpersonal and teamwork skills
CPR and First Aid certifications
Food handler permit
Preferred Qualifications:
Demonstrated familiarity with NAEYC accreditation requirements
State approved teaching license
