|Description:||The Lead Cleaning Services Technician functions as an onsite resource and lead person and provides cleaning services to College facilities as assigned. This position is responsible for assisting with supervising Cleaning Services personnel and training full time and temporary employees, and work-study students. Other responsibilities include maintaining custodial equipment and supplies at the established departmental standard, and to ensure all safe work practices are maintained. The Lead Cleaning Services Technician reports directly to either the Cleaning Services Manager or the Assistant Supervisor on shift. |
Monitor facilities for cleaning needs and projects, and provide status reports to the Cleaning Services Assistant Supervisor.
Prioritize, assign, and monitor the work of multiple Cleaning Services Technicians, assisting with projects when necessary to assure completion of required tasks.
Train staff, temporaries, and student employees concerning standard cleaning methods and procedures.
Must have the ability to perform a variety of custodial maintenance duties including, replenishing paper, towels, and soap supplies; dusting, mopping, vacuuming, and sweeping floors, sidewalks, and entrances; emptying and cleaning waste containers; stripping and waxing floors; changing light bulbs, and cleaning vents; delivering cleaning supplies and materials and washing walls, windows, doors, and handles.
Proficient ability to perform a variety of custodial sanitizing duties including cleaning and disinfecting floors, windows, sinks, counters, shower areas, toilets, water fountains, and other fixtures.
Monitor available inventory and orders supplies when necessary to maintain supply levels and ensure cleaning supply closets are stocked.
Responsible for performing routine maintenance and cleaning of all custodial equipment.
Supervision responsibilities of student workers will include training, prioritizing and assigning work, conducting performance evaluations, and making hiring, termination and disciplinary recommendations.
Responsible for ensuring all Cleaning Services personnel utilize safety equipment, guards, and personal protective equipment properly and consistently.
Will monitor and assist with the proper usage of cleaning chemicals, materials, equipment, and MSDS sheets.
Ability to demonstrate competency in hard floor care skills, carpet care skills and minor equipment repairs by first year anniversary of employment.
Other duties as assigned.
Three years cleaning experience, or, an equivalent combination of training and experience demonstrating skills in:
Excellent oral, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
Experience prioritizing, assigning, and monitoring others work.
Basic computer skills and experience with related software applications.
Experience in operating and maintaining the tools and equipment of the trade.
Possess ability and skill in basic cleaning techniques.
Knowledge of safe work practices, including knowledge of cleaning chemicals and the ability to understand MSDS sheets.
Knowledge of monitoring and maintaining inventory practices.
Exceptional work ethic, ability to follow directions and commitment to working collaboratively with supervisors and coworkers.
