| Description: | Position is responsible for the managements of the library during evening and weekend hours. Supervision of evening and weekend students at Circulation, Educational Media Services, and Interlibrary Loan. Assume responsibilities for the Director of Access & Educational Media Services and/or the Director of Resource Sharing in their absence. Process Summit lending and borrowing. Process requests for interlibrary loans. Assist library patrons in the following areas: interlibrary loan inquiries, use of library equipment (in reference or EMS). Position works independently with minimal supervision.
Library Operating Schedule:
Work Hours: 40 hours a week for 10 months (August 15 June 15)
2 PM 11 PM Sunday Thursday during the academic semester
12:30 PM 9:30 PM Sunday Thursday during January term
8 AM 5 PM Monday Friday when classes not in session

| Duties: | General
Communicate regularly with Circ, EMS, and ILL administrators and with librarians as needed.
Troubleshoot problems with all equipment and computers.
Assist in establishing and implementing procedures, policies, and training in Circ, EMS, and ILL.
Maintain, tabulate, and analyze statistics relating to patron counts; create reports summarizing information for the Library Director and the Director of Access & EM Services.
Provide backup for Systems Librarian in conjunction with the Director of Access & EM Services; monitor, report, and resolve network problems and system problems when Systems Librarian is absent.
Participate with other library staff in planning and goal setting for library development and services.
Provide backup, directional reference for patrons.
Develop as a professional through appropriate reading, writing, public presentations and continuing education, and participation in professional library organizations and conferences.
Access Services
Train student workers in public service, the circulation function of the online system, and maintenance and operations of all library equipment (computers, terminals, copiers, printers, microfilm readers, faxes, shelving, and basic use of the online catalog).
Provide additional cross-training for lead student workers.
Coordinate reserves processing in conjunction with the Director of Access & EM Services.
Process Summit borrowing and lending. Communicate with Summit institutions when problems arise.
Perform Innovative Interfaces system backup.
Manage fines and copier monies.
Educational Media Services
Train student workers in circulation and public service duties as outlined above. Train student workers in production tasks and operation of multimedia equipment.
Supervise delivery and pickup of classroom/committee meeting equipment.
Oversee production by the EMS student workers of media materials (audio and videotape dubbing, CD burning, transparencies, and laminated material); oversee EMS projects (e.g. slide/photograph scanning).
Recommend equipment purchase in consultation with the Director of Access & EM Services and the Director of Instructional Support
Manage schedules for media viewing room and listening/viewing rooms with the Director of Access & EM Services.
Coordinate services with other departments on campus who house equipment or offer services in EMS and the library.
Act as backup for EMS activities when no student workers are present in EMS service area.
Assist users with equipment.
Interlibrary Loan
Work with the Director of Resource Sharing to learn basic ILL policies and procedures.
Provide backup support to ILL department.
Delegate and assign routine tasks to evening circulation and EMS students.
Perform routine processing and more complex troubleshooting of ILL requests.
Train student workers in the circulation function of the online system and the use of other ILL software (Ariel, Clio, WorldCat Resource Sharing) as needed.
Supervisory
Supervise 65-75 student workers in Circulation, EMS, and ILL during weekend and evening shifts and in the absence of the Director of Access & EM Services and the Director of Resources Sharing.
Monitor training needs and provide training for circulation, EMS, and ILL students.
Coordinate and monitor student workers activities, including shift changes, circulation functions, and EMS deliveries.
Make hiring decisions in Circulation and EMS in collaboration with the Director of Access & EM Services.
Evaluate student workers in Circulation and EMS in cooperation with the Director of Access & EM Services.
Assist in making hiring decisions and evaluating student workers in ILL.

| Qualifications: | Education
Bachelors degree required.
Experience
A minimum of three years of library experience or related work experience.
Minimum of one year of supervisory experience, including hiring, training, and scheduling employees.
Excellent organizational skills and ability to prioritize work.
Expert competency level to operate computers and multimedia equipment.
Ability to operate library and office equipment.
Excellent communication skills, interpersonal skills, and public service orientation.
Ability to exercise good judgment, solve problems, and follow-up.
Ability to multitask.
